Foto ini diambil beberapa hari yang lepas semasa saya di Kuching. Sesiapa yg datang ke Kuching mesti akan mengambil foto bangunan DUN yang terletak di seberang Sungai Sarawak. Kebetulan ada sesuatu yang menarik perhatian saya semasa saya melalui jalan tersebut. Terdapat 3 sejarah yang berbeza dari 3 dekad yang berbeza iaitu Kota Lama (1879), kereta Proton Saga (1985) dan Bangunan DUN Sarawak (2009).

Foto ini adalah hasil dari 7 pencahayaan yang berbeza dan telah di tone HDR menggunakan Phototomatix dan kemudian diedit lagi menggunakan Photoshop CS3.

Kadang-kadang waktu malam kitak tidak perlu menggunakan "lampu denyar" untuk mengambar sesuatu yg kita ingini.. kita harus meneliti sekeliling. Bagi sesiapa yang pernah ke Bandung (bukan di Indonesia), Sibu Sarawak Borneo Malaysia anda mungkin pernah pergi ke tempat ini untuk makan.

Di tempat ini sudah cukup terang diterangi oleh mentol-mentol lampu dibawah payung yang besar. Ambik je kamera SLR, adjust setting dan terus shoot. Aku tak tau kamera kompak boleh ke tak shoot tanpa lampu denyar.... sebab aku tak ada kamera kompak...whoahahaha...

Info : cahaya yg sedia ada, satu di belakang, satu diatas kepada dan satu di depan.

Semasa isteri aku mengambil foto ini, Danial terus berlari ke arah aku dan berdiri di sebelah.

Orang kata "practice make perfect".. jadi memandangkan tahun 2009 aku ada jugak buat latihan tubi tapi aku rasa tidak begitu memadai. Jadi tahun 2010 aku buat pendekatan baru.. aku cabar diriku untuk menghasilan sekurang-kurangnya 1 foto setiap hari. Jadi project pertama aku ni adalah "365 days of light". Kenapa "365 days of light"? Aku ingin memahirkan diriku dalam penguasaan pencahayaan, tak kira dari mana datangnya cahaya tersebut. (maknanya selain nak menguasai pencahayaan, setting-setting pada kamera pun harus dikuasai ler...)

Jika sesiapa yg berminat nak tag along atau nak jadi model (sukarela) dipersilakan. Apa yang anda shoot nanti adalah milik anda. Bagi yang nak jadi model, insyaallah salinan imej dlm bentuk cd akan diberi. Mungkin aku akan print satu size 8r untuk anda.

The idea of making this photo came from when I saw the photos of Joel Grimes. So I've challenged myself why don't "me" produce the same situation but different approach. Both background & model were shot at the same place. How did me do this. A tripod is a must lah. Why??? Must put the camera at the same location. Alamak...now me remember forgot to take photo behide the scene lah... Ok...background me shoot first with 7 different exposures. Single expsoure oso can and use photoshop to make it into 7 exposures but no thrill for me lah...

After taking the shot, put the model there..make sure both light stand can't be seen or else you need to edit to make the lightstand gone. Simple job like that no thrill lah guys... I'm using 2 flashes for this work. One at the model and another one at the bike. Suppose to use umbrella & softbox but it's a windy day. Not me affraid that the umbrella & softbox will gone with the wind but the 2 flashes that me really concerned. If both fall down & broken, there goes about 90 packs of 10 kgs of rice.

So, 1st tryout just use bare flash. Try few shots until me can choose which one to use later.

The model

When someone saw someone bought a new camera, they will say : "It's not the camera that important but it the person behind it". Ok.... but until what limit that you will agree with that. But why can't it be both... why the professionals use better ones and only you still follow what others have said.

Ok.... then that person bought few new great lenses... so what happened to the "person behind the camera" ..... is he still important...

How could you tell which one is important... the camera or the person behind it or both.. or with the help of good lenses...you will produce few great images...

Apa yang menarik minat mereka untuk membeli kamera ni..... adakah disebabkan trend? Gaya hidup? Mampu milik.... beli dulu selidik later.. Orang lain ada aku pun nak jugak maah.... Art.... Creativity.....

Aku....????? bagi aku, ada kesenian didalam fotografi ni yang buat aku membeli kamera DSLR ni. Kamera compact tak menjadi masalah tapi dan "limitation" jika menggunakan kamera tersebut.

It's has been so many-many-many moons (does not related with New Moon) that I've done something I love to do. So when you think about of doing it, then you have to?? or you will do it??? mmmm For me, "just to it" <-- not an advertisement ok!!!
